Tioman Island

Tioman Island is a tropical paradise located off the eastern peninsular of Malaysia, acclaimed as a geological wonder, ecological paradise and one of Southeast Asia’s most beautiful travel destinations. Sitting like an emerald dragon guarding the translucent waters of the South China Sea, the island offers every possible shade of paradise.

The island is 136 km2 in size and sparsely populated with about 2000 people. Located 32 nautical miles off Pahang state, it can be connected through ferry from Mersing or Tanjung Gemok ferry terminal. The ferry takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the island. There are 8 villages (some are not ferry stops) to choose from that are located around the shoreline. Most villages are not connected by road and the only way to visit them is by ferry.

While many travel here with a relaxed beach holiday in mind, the island actually has enough activities for the adventure-seekers to experience. The underwater world around the island is inhabited vastly by vibrant coral reef, diverse marine lives as well as wrecks and caverns wait to be discovered. If beautiful crystal clear waters, powder soft sandy beaches and bright blue skies are not enough for you on the island, just look up and you will find undisturbed virgin jungles with strange species of wildlife are unique to the island. As the night fall, the sky started to lit up by billions of stars. It’s so quiet and still, making you feel like you’re on Mars by yourself.
