Ferry to Tioman Island (from Mersing or Tanjung Gemok)
Tioman Island is a 1.5 to 2 hours ferry ride from Mersing or Tanjung Gemok on the eastern peninsula of Malaysia. Ferries from both terminals cost the same, takes about the same time and are run by the same companies but their schedules are different.
There are more ferries departing from Mersing than Tanjung Gemok so if you leave from Mersing, you have more options. Generally, there are 1 to 3 departure times depending on the day’s tide level. We recommend booking in advance to ensure a seat. During the peak tourist season, ferries are easily fully booked. If you do not have a ticket, you may have to wait for the next departure or next day.
